Invitation to the 1st NHLI Joined Academic and Clinical Seminars (NHLI-JACS), 25 November 2010, ICCH London
Dear all,
You are cordially invited to attend our first NHLI Joined Academic and Clinical Seminars (NHLI-JACS) for all the NHLI fellows and their supervisors. The evening will have an informal tone, with some presentations followed by a sponsored dinner at a local restaurant. The aims are to augment research collaborations, start new friendships amongst the fellows working at the different NHLI sites and to introduce clinical SpRs to the cutting edge cardiovascular research going on in our region.
Our first session will be held at the ICCH (59-61 North Wharf Road, London W2 1LA) on the evening of Thursday the 25th of November, followed by dinner at Massis in Sheldon Square, which is a 5 minute walk from the ICCH.

Dr. Alexander Lyon is a Specialist Registrar in Cardiology and Wallport Clinical Lecturer at the NHLI.
Dr. Declan O'Regan is an MRC Senior Clinician Scientist at the Robert Steiner MRI unit at Hammersmith Hospital

Multimodality Cardiovascular Imaging Symposium: A Primer for National Trainees - 15th January 2011

The Multimodality Cardiovascular Imaging Symposium is intended to provide trainees with a solid introduction to cardiac imaging by covering core knowledge elements of the national curriculum. The series continues with the assessment of Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy.
By the end of the course, attendees should be able to:
1. Understand normal myocardial architecture and pathological findings in this disease group.
2. Explain concepts underlying echocardiographic, CMR and nuclear applications.
3. Gain practical experience in the analysis of volumetric data by both echocardiography and CMR.
4. Appreciate the role of imaging in prognostication.
